University of Pittsburgh Ice Hockey

JOHN ROVNAN

John Rovnan has been involved with the University of Pittsburgh’s Division I ice hockey team as a coach since 2003. Starting with the 2008 season, he is primarily working with the D1 team as a strength and conditioning coach, and he is responsible for creating the off-ice training program at training.pitthockey.com.

John previously served as Carlynton High School’s assistant ice hockey coach for the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Prior to that, he spent two years as assistant baseball coach for Highlands Legion baseball and three years as an assistant for Carroll High School baseball in Dayton, Ohio. John played hockey for North Catholic High School from 1988 to 1992.

John graduated from the University of Dayton in 1997 with a B.A. degree in Communications and from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 with a B.S. degree in Computer Science. He currently works as a software engineer for Medrad, Inc., a medical device company located outside of Pittsburgh. In his spare time, John shoots for the South Buffalo trap team. John married his wife Kelly in June 2004.
