MECS SUNDAY, JANUARY 10, 2010 8:12:02 PM EST PITT D2 STARS SHINE AT CHE ALL STAR GAME The 11th annual College Hockey East All Star Game and Skills competition was held on Sunday, January 10th at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center. Two Pitt players were chosen to represent the North Division squad and they made quite an impression. Will Pearl (So., Montreal, Quebec) and Dan Stein (So., Pittsburgh, PA) accounted for 3 goals and 3 assists as the North defeated the South 10–1. They were joined by Trevor Shaw (Jr., Erie, PA), who served as an alternate.
Dan Stein started the scoring for the North in the 1st period as he scored on a wrist shot from the left faceoff dot off of a pass from Will Pearl. From there, the North took over the contest. Will scored on goals in the 2nd and 3rd period and both Dan and Will notched assists in the 3rd period. Will’s 4 point effort put him in contention for MVP honors, but he was edged out by Fredonia State Goaltender Jeff Frohm. Will, Dan, and Trevor all participated in the All Star Skill Competition, which was also dominated by the North 16-4. Congratulations are in order to all of the participants. -- A.
