| News Archive MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2008 12:00:00 PM EST INTERESTED IN PITT HOCKEY? Pitt Hockey encourages prospective players, recent high school graduates, current high school students, and current Pitt students to take a few minutes to complete a recruit form. For high school students: Speaking to current players and coaches often helps the transition from high school to college, so you are encouraged to contact us for information about college and/or playing hockey at Pitt.In addition, you are strongly encouraged to schedule an official campus visit. More information about visiting Pitt can be found at the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid website, http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/.
For any incoming or current Pitt student: If you are concerned or just interested in what Pitt Hockey has to bring to the table, you are encouraged to contact the program. We would be happy to put you in touch with current players and coaches who can speak with you about Pitt Hockey. We have spoken with a number of incoming freshmen visiting campus for Pitt Start in recent years, and expect to do so again this summer. If playing the game isn’t your style, but you would still like to be involved, we are also in need of off ice help in the Sports Management and Marketing areas. Please contact Pitt Hockey General Manager Andy Mecs about the variety of ways you can help. -- T. BARRON FRIDAY, MARCH 28, 2008 1:19:34 AM EST PITT D1 FINISHES 18-8-2; #24 IN FINAL RANKINGS The D1 team finished an excellent 2007-2008 season with a stellar record of 18-8-2 that has landed Pitt at #24 in the ACHA Division 1 final national rankings.
As previously written, the team’s success has been driven by an influx of talented young players and stability from a core group of veterans. Many of these players will receive awards at the team’s upcoming banquet and they will be announced on this site shortly thereafter. Pitt is now clearly in position to operate an extremely competitive program for years to come. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and contributed to our success. -- A.
